A touch of nature

The entrance to the park

The sun shining onto the redwood trees

A banana slug

Over the weekend I went to stay at Bridget's grandma's place at Felton, CA. Its about 1.5 hrs drive from Berkeley and very near Santa Cruz (about 10mins drive). I was impressed by the surroundings; behind the house was the forest, where you could see trees and trees, and I believe there are wild animals too! And that night, the skies were so clear that we could see the Milky Way...the stars were glittering and shining up above. We were mesmerized by the stars while eating ice-cream!

And just beside her grandma's house is the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park! This state park is famous for its redwood trees, known to be native trees of CA. Early morning, we strolled along the 0.8mi loop around the redwood trees while enjoying the fresh air and admiring how majestic and tall those redwood trees were! Its like the trees were reaching out to the skies!!!

On the way there, we stumbled upon a banana slug (above picture) trying to cross the small path. This was my 1st time seeing one....it really looks like a banana, except it is smaller in size...The saddest part was...on the way back, we were thinking about this banana slug; whether it managed to crawl across the other side of the path and when we reached to the place where we 1st saw it, someone had already stepped on it! We were feeling so sad at that moment....life is so unpredictable!!! It made me realized that life is indeed really really short and we will never know what's gonna happen in the future or in the next minute or second or millisecond! A friend once told me...you should be grateful that you are breathing the next second! How true those words were!
