Brother's visit-Seattle, WA

Shopping district in Seattle
Underground bus tunnel
Pike Place Market
Inside 'Old Seattle'
Skyview from Columbus building -73th floor

Last week, my brother came to visit me, actually it was more like a surprise visit but nevertheless I enjoyed his company fully, and now I missed having him around and bugging me to cook for him to eat ;-).  Will definitely need some time to readjust back to my daily routine here...give myself at least 2 weeks...

During his trip here, we were doing a bit of traveling...1st, we went up to Seattle for a visit.  We decided not to drive there as it is not very economical for just the 2 of us driving a 12 hours journey...so we took a flight...good choice too caused the downtown parking was so costly!!!  And surprisingly the bus service around downtown was free too!!! Talking about saving cost :-)  Most interestingly, the bus goes through tunnels!!! And I always like driving through tunnels...what a treat for me ;-).

1st impression about Seattle was...'wow...it's so clean'!!!  I was pretty amazed at how tidy and clean the city was...and as a city, it sure doesn't seem to have a lot of people wa lking around...even on a weekday...I was really surprised since we were staying in the heart of downtown near a business district.  I wonder where the people gone to...

However, the pier was not as beautiful as the one here in San Francisco, one reason was they built 2 storey freeway right beside the pier!  So you can imagine how noisy the surrounding was when you are trying to relax at the pier...Nevertheless, we managed to enjoy some seafood,  Ivar's fish and chips and clam chowder.  And not to forget a visit to the ever famous Pike Place Market where it is common to see people tossing fishes between one another...

We visited the Experience Music Project and the Science Fiction museum where we had the chance to hands-on some music instruments like electric guitar, drums, keyboard, and even did a virtual on-stage show where both of us sang 'Rock n Roll' while my brother playing the drum, and me strumming the electric guitar.  It was really fun!  We were rockstar for that 5 mins! ;)

Around the city, we joined the Underground tour to the basement where 'Old Seattle' was built.  It was an interesting tour where the guide brought us to the underground and walked through the path where you could still see the remains of the old seattle back in the early 1900s, during the Gold Rush period.  Even the signboards were still here, and furnitures as well!  Definitely a historical place indeed.

And of course we managed to do some shopping there as well...since we had some free time and since this is a relaxing holiday...but mostly, my brother bought many things...well..what can I say, there is good bargains everywhere in the USA...and we even have time to see Star Trek!

Luckily the weather was good during our stay there...it was forecast to rain but I guessed both of us brought the sunshine from CA ;-)  Only started to rain on the day we depart...Good for us ;)
