911

I never thought I will actually dial 911 here in the USA.  This morning I was walking to the university, just like any other day.  While I was walking, I heard a guy's voice shouting 'hey, I am stuck in the bathroom, help me!'.  At first I thought perhaps there was some crazy person shouting somewhere nearby, so I ignored the noise.  I have become very good at ignoring people and avoiding eye contact with strangers...caused you will never know what kind of weird people that you will bump into...I have my own few shares of incidents that made me decide to avoid strangers on road...not a very good one I should say...

Anyway, I was walking further and further away while the voice was getting louder...then I decided to turn back to see who was this crazy guy...Up at the 2nd floor of an apartment, this guy was actually shouting for help at me...apparently he was stuck in the bathroom...the door knob was broken..so there was no way he could open the door...ahh....so I dialed 911 for help...The operator asked me lotsa questions, like do I know this guy, am I in the apartment, and the most important Q he asked was...'is he a mentally-ill person?'...I replied saying he looked normal to me :-) That was from my own judgement, of course.... I guessed there are many kinds of people around here and at times we just have to be prepared to face whatever that we encountered.  

I hoped that he managed to get out from the bathroom safely......so maybe we should bring our cell phone wherever we go!!! :-)
