At the summit of Mt Diablo

Hiking trail

Magnificent view

Breathtaking view
Since there are tonnes of National and State Parks around California, we decided to do some hiking in one of these parks today, and indeed it was a very good day, cloudless with blue skies. We went to Mt Diablo State Park, located between Walnut Creek and Clayton county. It was about an hours' drive from Berkeley heading towards the east side. Bridget drove us to the summit of the mountain, which is 3849ft. From the summit we took a hiking trail, called 'prospector's' towards North Peak ( a 3557 ft mountain). For me, this was really my 1st real hiking in a natural park, where there are steep steps to make, dry sand trails with stones and the highlight was walking right beside the cliffs in a narrow pathway really made my adrenaline pumped!. I realized now that I am definitely afraid of cliffs! We were hiking for about 1.5hrs when finally my legs gave in...can't move anymore...so we had lunch in the middle of the mountain, then headed back to where we started from. In other words, I didn't manage to reach the other mountain cause that will take us another 2 hrs to reach there! Overall this trip was really an eye opener. The view along the trail was fantastic, managed to take some pictures with shaky legs:). The next hiking trip...will fnd one that has road to hike;) hehehe

California looks so warm! We still have a lot of dirty snow lying around. But perhaps in 2 weeks time I will have pictures of my own from Turkey to rival yours :p
